Fans Annoyed By New One Year Shirt Policy

Saints fans looking to buy the new 'Umbro' designed shirt will be paying out for a kit that will only be match worn for one season. The club had been operating a two year cycle but 'Umbro' have a one year policy with all the clubs they supply. Saints signed a five year shirt deal with Umbro after using their own brand for several years. The new kit will be available to buy in the middle of June and you can pre order on May 14th. A sneak preview on the OS shows its the usual red/white stripe format. Its a bold move or 'rip off' as many fans would say going to a one season policy and i can see sales dropping as many fans will not shell out another £40 for another variation of the same design yearly. The shirts and other merchandise will still be available only from the two official Saints shops to maximise profit.

Golden Opportunity To Build For Promotion

If Saints can secure a takeover/investment in the coming weeks then with so many players out of contract a new promotion winning team can be built. I think Nigel Pearson should be given a chance with his 'own' backroom staff and build on what will be a fairly empty team template this summer. Out of contract are Ostlund, Powell, Wright, Dyer, Idiakez, Licka. Claus Lundekvam and Makin have retired and Perry, Lucketti, Vignal and Richard Wright where all on loan deals. There is also the unknown status of Rasiak and Skacel who have been out on loan. Maybe out of all that lot you might keep Licka, Lucketti, Perry and it would be great to obtain goalkeeper Richard Wright. Saints im sure would certainly be looking at filling both left and right back slots and a couple of additions to the midfield. You also need to score plenty of goals to get out of this division so a new face upfront or even Rasiak ? It has been suggested to UTS that there will be a Saints PLC board meeting by the end of this week.

Stern John Fires Saints To Championship League Safety !

stern johnSaints survived relegation after beating Sheffield United 3-2 as Leicester City only managed a 0-0 draw at Stoke. There was even the secondary comfort of Coventry losing which meant Saints went above them as well. Sheffield United took the lead halfway into the first half as an unmarked Quinn headed past Wright. Saganowski levelled the game with a header just before the break. Saints took the lead six minutes into the second half as John made it 2-1. But the blades equalized just past the hour mark as Stead poked home another simple cross. A full St Mary's didn't have much time to panic as within minutes John made it 3-2. The final ten minutes saw John sent off for a double yellow. But even down to ten men Saints where not going to let the lead slip a second time. The final whistle saw fans invade the pitch to celebrate staying up. The bonus from survival might well see Saints being taken over this coming week. Goals Video

Saints Fate To Be Decided In Last Match After Baggies Draw

adam lallanaSaints will have to beat Sheffield United and hope one from four other teams above them slip up to stay in this league. Saints put in a gritty display at the Hawthorns knowing a point was the minimum they needed. They did that and where six minutes away from winning the match. Adam Lallana scored his first goal for Saints in the seventy seventh minute to put Saints 1-0. But the Baggies needing just a point for promotion equalized with six minutes to play as Brunt fired through Wrights legs. I think most fans would of taken a point before the match but a win really would of made a huge difference. Goals Video
